This is a very interesting idea, manipulating the stair space as a means of presenting the client's work. I feel that you can develop this further by incorporating the musical interest of your client in the stairs maybe by experimenting with materials or giving it a more dynamic feel because at the moment it seems quite stiff. Similarly, your spiral stairs could also be improved as it should reflect the personality of the client. Maybe slight alterations on the basic features of the stairs can give it a more sleek feeling that can reflect the interest of your client. However, this is a good start.
Caleb, the precedent I was talking about but on a smaller scale was Sou Fujimoto's Wooden House. Perhaps your stairs could be comprised of a modular unit as a start to a more playful stair configuration.
Hey Caleb, Your concept of intergrating the presentation of your clients' products with the stairs very innovative! I also agree with Jenny that your spiral stairs could be developed more to reflect more of Kimura's personality and interests. :)
