Week 3-4 Textures

Below are the 36 textures which I developed in studio and at home over the last week. Each texture is based on one of the 36 words which my group came up with last week. The words have been ordered based upon their position as an above-ground space, ground space, and below-ground space.
The words are as follows:
Above: smooth, streamline, corrugated, disjointed, projected, rough, slanted, fanned, rotated, arched, carved, soft.
Ground: translucent, reflective, rounded, classic, wooden, hollow, moulded, flexible.

Below: segmented, rigid, layered, tessellated, framework, bubbly, dense, shiny, folded, matte, sandy, brittle, crystallised, metallic, condensed. 

Below are the 18 concept sketches from week 1 studio. My clients were Shinya Kimura and Antonio Stradivari. The final sketch was used in making a 3D Google SketchUp model.

Below are 4 images from the Google SketchUp model which I made this week. This was my first time using the program, and as such my work reflects the initial limitations which I faced when encountering the new program. However, this was a valuable exercise and I hope to use the knowledge I have learnt of the program to make future models in studio.

1. "Into the Rose Garden" was my English Extension 2 major work for the 2012 HSC. The piece was a short story with various poems within the narrative. Many hours, late-nights, and all-nighters went into the production of the story. Additionally, the experience of working on a large-scale assignment and developing a creative work was a highly useful and exciting venture.

2. The "JD House" by BAK Architects is an example of sustainable architecture with its materials of local wood and concrete, and its subversion within the surrounding environment - as shown by the undisturbed tree which rises through the floor and roof of the house.

3. This is an original photograph of a quiet beach nearby my home-town on an overcast day. The beach remains relatively untouched and holds a certain solitude and beauty unmatched by most other busy beaches.
